Health and Safety Policy

1. Policy Statement
This practice is dedicated to providing a safe, hygienic, and deeply restorative environment for all clients, whether sessions occur in my dedicated healing studio or at mobile locations. As a solo practitioner, I am committed to identifying, minimizing, and managing risks associated with sound healing, energetic modalities, physical travel, and solo home visits.
2. Modality-Specific Safety Protocols
Because my practice utilizes vibrational, crystal, and energetic modalities, the following specific safety protocols are enforced:
Sound Healing: Sound bowls, gongs, and chimes are played at safe decibel levels. Instruments will never be struck directly over a client’s face, and intense vibrational tools (like weighted tuning forks) are used with extreme caution around the head, ears, or any area with surgical implants.
Reiki & Chakra Balancing: These modalities are non-invasive and can be performed hands-on or entirely hands-off. The client's physical boundaries and comfort levels regarding light touch are established and agreed upon before the session begins.
Crystal Healing: All crystals used on or around the body are inspected regularly for sharp edges, cracks, or chips that could cause scratches. Heavy or large crystals are positioned securely so they cannot slip or fall.
3. Dedicated Studio Safety (Fixed Location)
For sessions hosted at my dedicated professional space outside of my home:
Slips and Trips: The treatment room, waiting area, and walkways are kept free of clutter, loose rugs, and trailing audio or power cords.
Premises Security: The studio is locked during private sessions to ensure client privacy and personal safety.
Fire Safety: The studio is equipped with a working smoke alarm and a fire extinguisher. Emergency exits are clearly marked and kept entirely unobstructed.
Aromatherapy & Incense: Elements like sage, incense, or essential oils are used only with prior client consent. Any burning materials are placed in heat-resistant vessels and are never left unattended.
4. Mobile and Venue Safety (Travel Services)
When traveling to private homes or venues provided by the client, I adapt my safety standards to the environment:
Dynamic Risk Assessment: Upon arriving at a new home or venue, I quickly assess the space for immediate hazards (e.g., loose pets, unsafe stairs, lack of ventilation) and adjust the setup accordingly.
Safe Equipment Transport: All instruments (sound bowls, gongs) and treatment tables are securely packed in protective cases. I utilize proper lifting techniques to prevent personal injury during loading and unloading.
Venue Coordination: For corporate or event venues, I coordinate with the onsite manager to identify fire exits, first aid stations, and designated loading areas.
5. Solo Practitioner Personal Safety (Lone Working Protocol)
When visiting a new client's home or a private venue alone, the following safety check-in protocols must be executed:
Itinerary Sharing: A trusted emergency contact is always provided with the client's name, address, phone number, and the scheduled start and end time of the session.
Check-In/Check-Out System: I will text my emergency contact immediately upon arrival at the location and immediately after leaving the location. If a check-out text is not received within 30 minutes of the scheduled end time, the contact is instructed to call me, and escalate to authorities if unanswered.
Environment Exit Strategy: I maintain the right to immediately terminate a session and leave the premises if a situation, environment, or individual feels unsafe, hostile, or inappropriate.
6. Client Health Screenings, Illness, and Cancellation Policy
Holistic therapies interact deeply with a client’s nervous and energetic systems. Strict scheduling boundaries are enforced to maintain an infection-free environment and protect business sustainability:
Pre-Session Intake: New clients must complete an intake form to flag contraindications. For sound healing, special precautions or modifications are made for clients with epilepsy, severe tinnitus, cardiac pacemakers, or those in their first trimester of pregnancy.
Medical Disclaimer: Clients are explicitly informed that my services do not replace conventional medical diagnosis, treatment, or psychiatric care.
Sick Attendance Clause: If a client shows up to a session visibly sick (coughing, fever, contagious symptoms), the session will be immediately cancelled.
First Occurrence: The client can reschedule the session at no additional charge.
Subsequent Occurrences: A $25 administrative fee will be charged to reschedule the appointment.
Booking and Cancellation Refund Tiers: All booking fees are non-refundable unless the client cancels 8 or more days in advance.
8+ Days Notice: Eligible for a full refund.
7 to 3 Days Notice: Eligible for a 50% refund.
Less than 3 Days Notice: The client will not receive a refund of any amount.
7. Hygiene and Sanitation
To prevent the spread of infections, germs, or skin allergens:
Hand Hygiene: I thoroughly wash my hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer immediately before and after every session.
Linen Care: Freshly laundered sheets, blankets, and face cradle covers are used for every individual client. Used linens are immediately placed in a closed hamper and washed at high temperatures.
Instrument & Surface Cleaning: All crystal sets, tuning forks, and smooth instruments that touch a client are sanitized with non-toxic, gentle disinfectant wipes between sessions. The treatment table is fully wiped down after each use.
8. Emergency Procedures
First Aid Kit: A portable, fully stocked first aid kit travels with me to all mobile sessions and remains accessible in my dedicated studio.
Incident Protocol: If a client experiences a medical emergency, the session stops immediately. I will place the client in a safe position, contact emergency services (911 / local equivalent), and notify their emergency contact.
